Day 2 Lisbon or Lisboa

We wake up refreshed and glad not to hear any hammer drills. The day before that is all we heard when we first arrived. A search of the TV (Satllite TV) and can't find a local channel for the weather. So i go out on our Patio and get blinded by the brightest sun I have ever seen. We are about 300 yards from the beach so I guess the weather is going to be sunny and about 50 degrees. Breakfast is a Buffet that costs us 5.50 Euros each. Not bad but no Decaf coffee. Just little baby cups of espresso or cafe w leiche (Coffee with milk) by Coffee I mean Espresso, strong coffee.

Today we venture to Lisbon via train. It cost 3.30 Euros each round trip. As we leave three Portugese couples in their 60s or 70s get on. As the train starts our 40 Minute ride along the coast to Lisbon one of one of the gentleman in the trio couple breaks into song. A portugese song so we don't understand but the six of them are having a great time. Everyone on our car (which is like the Riverline or light rail but not like the El) is laughing and enjoying the show. I tried to get them on tape but I brought the wrong DVD disks that need to be formatted. So for 40 minutes we are entertained by the locals.

We get off the train at Cais do Sorde Train Station in Lisbon and again try to decipher the map to locate the Prima de Cormercia where our tour bus will start. We make the right decision and find that the street we select has been blocked sort of like West River Drive is blocked on Sundays for Bikers and Walkers. We find the square and there is a pet adoption group setting up Accross the square we spy the busses . As we wait for the bus to pull up this car comes by This is the size of about 40% of the cars here. Cute thing isn't it. The bus pulls up and we head off. This picture shows you the size of the bus compared to the streets. . These guys can manuver these things. Here are some shots of the ride. Here is a picture of Doreen just as she catches me taking the shot. This is a gun tower that was built to protect Lisbon and a picture of me by one of the canons

This next was taken from that gun tower. This old woman was going along the sand at low tide looking for Muscles. Look at the pink bag. She eventually got that half full. Tonights dinner or fresh muscles at a local eatery.

We stopped at a Museum since they are free on Sundays. Normal Museum stuff except for these two objects. The first was a deep bowl with what looks like a man getting lucky. The next one is a tapestry called fishing or something. This portion shows one of the cherubs giving another a golden shower. It is a bit dark but turn up your brightness.

Here is a link to a movie of the changing of the guard at the memorial for Portugese soldiers who died in overseas wars. Before the change the one soldier kept chaisng people off the walkway to allow the guard to come by. Movie of soldiers We almost miss our bus but get back to the square. We make the short walk to the Train Station and head back to Cascais. We make sure the car didn't get stolen and head for a nice dinner. This was a nice Portugese dinner. Doreen had Meat with Potatoes. She asked our waiter "What type of meat?" and he said "Bif" Beef. I had Halibut covered in shrimp but he didn't mention it had cheese and was in a cream sauce. It was good. We polished off a good bottle of Portugese white wine. We started off dinner with a small glass of White Port. Surprisingly we don't get looped. Here is our Resturant
