It has been an entire year since our last vacation. This one is short but we will make the best of it. We head north to Boston Mass. We leave New Jersey on a day when the temperature will hit 80 to rainy cold Boston. As we land at Logan Airport we are told that the temperature is a brisk 58 degrees and cloudy. We are so glad we brought our warm clothes.
Although it is Memorial Day weekend our plane ride was easy and not congested. I guess Boston isn't the hotspot this time of year. The plane ride did seemed doomed when a family with two little girls learned that their seats weren't together and everyone had to play the seat shuffle. And as kids are kids the two little girls didn't want to cooperate. They finally settled down but when your plane ride is only 55 minutes it could seem like an eternity.
We land and find our baggage quite easily but then find out that we have to negotiate the stairs with four bags in tow. Our hotel is in the financial district and a short ride from the airport. We ride through the Big Dig (16+ Billion Dollars) and when we got near the hotel you get the feeling that you are being squeezed in. There isn't a straight street in this town. No wonder traffic is always backed up. We arrive at the Hotel and I think I got a great deal but this place is a bit out of my league. Here is our Room

What a place. We have a view of the indoor swimming pool. That is fine since out of any window you would only see another building.
Our first stop is to find a place for lunch so we head to Quincy Market. This is a group of buildings that is like a Mall or the Gallery. Tons of small carts and eateries.

There are also street performers all over the place. Check out these two.

We found a place to eat which wasn't hard just hard to decide what we wanted. There a ton of food shops here. One place was called "Boston Chowda!" ywes not chowder. On our way back to the room we scoped out the eateries for dinner possibilities and decided we would eat at Mr. Dooleys before we go on our Graveyard tour.
Mr. Dooleys is an authentic Irish Pub. We get a booth far enough away from the Irish Singer's speakers but we still had to yell to each other to get over the music. I had a Guiness and it was the way a Guiness should be. The bars at home don't serve it right. I watched the bartender pour it and he had to put the glass aside twice to allow the foam to settle. Doreen had a Pinot Grigio which was one of the highlighted wines of the dya. For dinner Doreen had Bangers and Mash while I opted for the Lobster Special. Both meals were okay but the Bangers (Irish Sausage)were a bit dry. We had a great dessert. Chocalte Mocha Cake that sat in brandy.
After Dinner we headed off to our Graveyard tour.

Our tour guide was Ned the Gravedigger

Here he is explaining how they would hang people in the 1800s. He later locked us in one cemetery to be led around by his friend.

The brochure didn't mention the walking so after we walked all afternoon we finished the night walking around graveyards in Boston. It was different to say the least. On our way back to the Hotel we find out that Boston wakes up after 9 PM. There are a lot of clubs surrounding our hotel and each has a line to get in. The other odd thing is that smoking is banned in every resturant so you will find a group of smokers at the doorway of each place.
