Today we dock at 7 AM. We are up just before 6 AM because I set the alarm for the wrong time. It didn't matter though. We have ample time to get ready and get breakfast. We are back in our room waiting to be called to the gangway but are not called until 10 AM. I could have slept until 9 AM. We are the last group to be called to the gangway. We get there and waddle off like two refugees arriving at Ellis Island. The walk through customs is easy as showing your drivers license. After we find our luggage we head to the bus for the airport. I give Doreen a scare when I can't find the cruise booklet with the transfer vouchers. The bus attendant lets us on and when we find our seat I find the cruise booklet.
We arrive at the airport and it looks like there is an evacuation going on. Bus after bus is coming up and dropping off and picking up people. We get off and join the trek of travelers that are heading to the terminal. We locate the rental car area and we are met by a mile long line of people trying to get a car. After standing in a line for about 5 minutes I notice I am in the line for Budget instead of Hertz where I should be. I get in the right line and hear people complaining how long it is taking. I just chuckle and a Hertz rep comes up and tells folks that they can go to the garage where there is a shorter wait. My instincts tell me to stay as half of the line head for the parking garage. Our wait is about a half hour. When I get to the desk I asked why the big crowd, he says it is SeaFair 2006. It seems Seattle expects about 1 million people to descend on the area. Thats great this happened to us when we went to San Francisco. We arrived the same time as 35,000 JAVA programmers hit there for their conference. We get our car and then get lost in the garage trying to get out. I get the Never Lost GPS system and it keeps telling me there is a turn coming up but the GPS doesn't work in the garage. We find our way out and head off to the B & B. Our GPS guidance is perfect and matches the directions I get from the B & B
We are staying at a place called The Chambered Nautilis Just click on the name and you will see the place.
After we check in and rest a bit we head out for lunch and a short drive. We are a stones throw from the University of Washington. They have a football stadium larger then Lincoln Financial. Parking is brutal around here so we park at the school bookstore and go in to have our ticket validated. We head to the local brew pub for lunch and a few brews. The beer goes down easy and I have to control myself. We ended up back there for dinner since we couldn't find a place close by that fit our liking.
