Sorry there aren't any pictures for this portion of the trip but when you finish reading this you will know why. Our day started with a bunch of last minute projects but we felt things were looking up since our Taxi arrived on time and with plenty of room to handle our ton of luggage for the cruise. So we leave Oaklyn for the Airport. The trouble starts as we head down the road when the driver starts asking us about our trip and gets caught up talking Alaska and misses his turn and we get a scenic tour of Audubin New jersy. Nice town but I see it everyday.
He finally found his way to the Walt Whitman Bridge and we get to the Airport. Here is where the fun begins. Our flight is due to leave at 7:55 PM. Keep that time in mind. We get in line to check our bags and are immediately directed to the self service area, even though we already have our boarding passes. Here we encounter a bunch of touch screens that never work with my fingers. Doreen and I waddle over there like two refuggees fleeing the country, bags hanging from us and trailing behind. I get things entered and Doreen asked me a question and at the same time the person behind the counter yells out Seattle while I answer Doreen "San Diego". The two knuckleheads behind the counter start laughing at me and think I can't here. So I try to explain to both of them with no success. I then tell them that there are 100 people at the machines and anyone of them could be going to Seattle. This is just the start.
I heave up our two bags and the attendant gives me a wierd look. She puts the bag on a scale and tells me that our bags are overweight (Yeah and so are we!). I asked "What can I do about it?" She says to move it to another bag. I asked "What bag?". Immediately I have flashbacks to the A and E show Airport and can see myself getting dragged from the airport because I was unruly. I calm down but Doreen gets started so now I have to defuse this before we both get set out in shackles. We then get informed it will cost us another $50 for our bag. So I hand her my Credit Card which gets denied. That sets us both in a panic. I grab my debit card and settle this and we head off to our gate.
We get to the gate and I get on the phone to Visa. It is some computer glitch (go figure I hate computers) and our card is reactivated. We flush our minds of all bad thoughts of a cruise where we couldn't spend anything. I then look up and the flight on the board isn't our flight. We have been bumped to a different gate. So we trudge off to the other gate which is at the other end of the terminal. As we get there we hear that we will probably board at 7:55PM. No problem. Well 7:55 PM came and went. We board the plane at 9:15 PM only to sit at the gate until 10:30PM. We pull away from the gate only to sit on the Tarmack until 11:15PM. We get the go ahead and as the plane pulls out to the runway we go across the runway to the taxi lane and are told that all departures are on hold until the weather clears. We finally take off at 11:45PM.
We finally arrive in Seattle at 2:05 AM Pacific Time.
So after all of that I wasn't taking any pictures. Maybe Day 2 will be better. The day did end on a good note. Our Hotel here is great and the bed is comfortable.
