Well I'd like to welcome you to Coach Boris' feature provided by
ONLine Services. This site will provide postings to go along with
the Youth Football season. It will also be a place to send email with your
questions concerning football. These questions can be about anything concerning
Football. We also have a forum on the site where you can discuss things
concerning Youth and High School football. Speak out about your feelings of
weight loss in Youth Football, parental involvement at all levels or how to get
your players recognized by High Schools and Colleges. As for who I am. Well I
am a local Football coach who has been coaching Football in South Jersey since
1982. I don't claim to be the winningest coach but since 1982 I have coached at
all levels and have attended many Coach's clinics over that time. I have been
on all sides of football as Coach, Parent, Administrator and spectator. Most of
the stuff I plan to talk about is basic and may come in handy but I am always
open for improvement. No matter how long you are in this game someone will
always come up with a different way to accomplish something. Also in the Youth
and High School Football game you normally have to play with the cards you are
dealt. It isn't like College where you can go out and recruit a team to fit
your scheme. You have to adjust and at the Youth level you never know what you
are getting.
One thing I want to say up front is the entire object of playing
football is to score points and hopefully you will score more than your
opponent. I believe it was Worf on Start Trek that said "If you aren't
interested in winning than why do they keep score". Now he may not have said
that but he is sort of a favorite of mine when I think of battles. As a coach I
see the game as a giant chess board except these chess pieces are live and at
times don't move the way you want them. At all levels of this sport I believe
that the best players should be on the field to win the game but I also feel
that a player that has come to all of your practices and plays to the best of
their potential should see playing time on the field during a regular game.
This is tough to accomplish but your staff should know the personnel and see
times during the game that these players can get into the game and contribute
to the winning of the game. This concept may stir up some talk and be my guest
to comment.
I will post articles that would follow
the football season. The Topic list includes but not in any order:
From time to time I will try to get a guest Coach to write a portion. I can talk for days on Football but I want this information here to be fresh and not to be slanted to just my opinion.
