* MARCH MADNESS: BEER DINNERS, FESTIVALS & MORE
Come on out and join us at one of the many events we're doing this month.
These include two gourmet beer dinners at the Lobster Shanty (Pt. Pleasant
Beach, NJ--March 5) and the Flying Fish Restaurant (Philadelphia--March
30); 3 beer festivals: York, Malvern and Philadelphia, PA, promo nights in
South Jersey, Philadelphia, Allentown, Bethlehem and Wayne PA, tastings and
more. See below for the details or head over to
http://flyingfish.com/live.html for the latest details.
* SPECIAL FOR WXPN MEMBERS
The University of Pennsylvania's public radio station has declared March
its Member Month. To support the folks who support public radio, we're
offering a free pint glass to all 'XPN members who stop in for a Saturday
tour during the month. Just show us your card. To find out about other
member benefits go to http://www.xpn.org
* FLYING FISH AT THE SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTE
Flying Fish cask-conditioned ESB was recently featured at a
Smithsonsian-sponsored class on traditional English beers.
Ray Daniels, founder of the Real Ale festival, spoke at the sold-out session.
You can find the ESB and our other museum-quality cask-conditioned
beers at Andy's Corner, Bogota, NJ; Grey Lodge Pub, Bridgid's, Dawson
St. in Phila.; Drafting Room in Exton, PA; and Greene Leafe Cafe,
Williamsburg, VA.
* THE FIRST-EVER FISHWEAR SALE ALMOST OVER
Moving right along from art to commerce, head on over to
http://flyingfish.com/WannaWear.html to check out our sale on screen
printed and embroidered items. Look for the tacky, flashing "SALE"
sign. Quantities and sizes are limited.
* COOL LINKS: TRAINS AND SPY SATELLITES
--Flying Fish and North Star Bar favorites John Train celebrated their new
CD "Angels Turned Thieves" last month with a special release party
featuring plenty of fresh Flying Fish beers and a stirring rendition of the
Flying Fish theme song. If you haven't heard them, John Train plays a great
mix of bluegrass, country & folk using acoustic guitar, dobro, mandolin,
bass and fiddle. Catch them every Wednesday night at the North Star (27th
and Poplar, Philadelphia, 215-235-STAR) or head over to the John
Train/Record Cellar web site to hear song samples, order CDs and get more
band info: http://www.record-cellar.com/
The site also has info on a lot of other local Philly bands.
--Want to see how dirty your car looks from 23,000 miles in space? If you
have a few minutes, go to http://terraserver.com This site lets you call
up satellite images from around the globe and see objects as small as one
meter. It's a little glitchy sometimes, but still worth a look. To see
